The monastery is still the early Christian era was one of the central place of Christianity in the Adriatic, but it is one of the main places of Serbian spirituality because it is the capital of the Diocese of Zeta, founded by St.Sava himself in 1219,which was one of the most special places in the Serbian Orthodox faith and goverement. Monastery, home of the famous Nomocanon of St. Sava (Ilovica transcription), had been suffered in the violent manner in the 15th century, when 70 monks were poisoned. Today, their relics testify to the struggle for Orthodoxy. God is glorified martyrs. Relics from their fragrant oil flows. Monastery in recent years, accelerated research and renewed, to the joy of the entire Serbdom that it is increasingly visited.
